Who I went with
My husband and our 24 ft. Pontoon Boat.
Favorites
The area is Quaint, Quiet, Enchanting, Exciting, and Picturesque, all at the same time. The Local people are friendly & helpful. The Main Street leading to the Public Access Beach proudly displays signs welcoming all modes of transportation, including, Pedestrians, Autos, Golf Carts, Bicycles, Tractors & even Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides.
What I didn't like
Limited parking near the Public Beach Access & the Riverboat Gambling areas. The Public Boat Parking & Boat Ramps can be tricky to navigate for larger boats. The Marina is sometimes crowded during the summer months & holidays.
What I recommend
There are several smaller hotels, local B&Bs & Timeshare options. Rental Houses can accommodate large or smaller families, & provide easy access to beaches, activities & restaurants. Festivals, Unique Events, such as "Best Dressed Golf Cart Festival", Fishing & Golfing Tournaments are held throughout the year. Virginia Vineyards in the area hold frequent Festivals & many are offer free tours & tasting. Holiday activities, such as Open Houses, special events, Musical & Theatre Performances make this a year-round Travel Option.

For a great lunch, picnic basket option or to stock up on groceries, visit the family-owned & operated Hall's Grocery Store, featuring local produce, homemade hot food, salad bar, outstanding Deli & Homemade Baked Goods. The store even has an In-House Butcher to custom-cut steaks for your grill. Exceptional customer Service at great prices for over 75 yrs. make this a Colonial Beach Landmark a Local Treasure. The Riverboat Restaurant has good food, and provides Gambling, Gaming & Betting entertainment, as well. Colonial Beach is just a short distance (about 30 minutes) from Historic Fredericksburg & the Maryland State Line.
