I was with my girlfriend at the time. We had booked this trip as an all-inclusive deal, staying at the Royal Solaris Cancun.

I enjoyed the beach, Cancun has great white sand beaches. Also our inclusive deal got us a sail boat rental, which was a lot of fun.

What I didn't like |

My girlfriend at the time and I were last in Cancun after Hurricane Ivan which destroyed a lot of the hotels and beach fronts. I'm sure they have restored everything since then. Also I don't suggest heading out into the shopping areas alone. Once my girlfriend and I headed down an ally of shops and we were surrounded by vendors trying to get us to buy something- it was kind of a scary situation. Also it seemed everywhere we went someone was trying to get a tip for something, and that gets old quick for me.

I can't recommend going for an all-inclusive package with a resort. The Royal Solaris Cancun had bland food, and I believe we could have saved money (and had better food) shopping for our own meals in Cancun. I suggest trying snorkeling, sun bathing on the beach, and walks on the beach at night.

There are old Mayan ruins nearby Cancun, but I never got to see them. If I go back that's one of the things I want to see that I felt I missed on my last trip there.
